Reclaiming London Together

On 5 March 2012, the Fayre Share Foundation and the Faiths Forum for London hosted Reclaiming London Together at Stamford Bridge Stadium.

The event looked at the causes of and community responses to last summer’s riots, considered the prospects for London’s young people,  and examined how charities, faith communities and philanthropists, can collaborate to offer more hope to future generations.

Young people played an active role in the discussions, workshops, panels and a theatre piece which looked at how to prevent future disturbances. The Faiths Forum for London also launched a volunteering initiative and a prize for organisations making a difference to London’s young people.

The LSE-Guardian’s ‘Reading the Riots’ project was an active contributor to the discussions during the day, and used the opportunity to investigate how faith communities responded to the riots and their role in the subsequent clean-up operations.
